Custom dashboards are interactive dashboards built specifically for your organization, shown in Amplify alongside the standard dashboards. Each one is opened from Dashboards on an initiative's side menu, under its own name. They bring together Amplify's data in the charts, tables, and filters your organization needs — for example, benefits by business unit, or a portfolio summary in your own reporting format.
This article covers both the Advanced and Simple Models. Custom dashboards need to be enabled for your organization, and are usually built for you by Amplify-Now — speak to your Customer Success Manager. Which custom dashboards appear on an initiative is set by an administrator — see Configuring Custom Dashboards.
Using a custom dashboard
Each custom dashboard is designed for your organization, so what it shows, and how you work with it, depends on how it's built. Most have charts and tables you can hover over, filters you can change, and pages you can move between, such as separate pages for benefits, costs, and RAID items.
The dashboard shows data from the initiative it's opened on, and those beneath it. Depending on how it's set up, it may only include initiatives you have access to.
The control bar
A bar of controls sits at the bottom of the dashboard:
- Close these controls — hides the bar until the page is reopened.
- Make report fullscreen — shows the dashboard across the whole screen.
- Export report as PDF or PowerPoint — exports the dashboard. Shown where the dashboard can be exported. See Exporting a custom dashboard.
- Request update now — updates the dashboard's data. Shown where your organization allows it. See How the data is updated.
- Edit mode — for administrators, to change the dashboard's layout. See Configuring Custom Dashboards.
The bar also shows when the dashboard's data was last updated.
How the data is updated
A custom dashboard doesn't show live data. Its data is copied from Amplify on a schedule, so recent changes may not show yet. The control bar shows the dashboard's update status:
- Updated, with how long ago — the data is as of that time. Hover over it to see when the next update is due.
- Updating — an update is running.
- Update failed, with how long ago — the last update didn't finish. The dashboard shows the data from before it.
- Never updated — the dashboard hasn't been updated yet.
Where your organization allows it, click Request update now to update the data straight away. The button spins until the update is finished.
Exporting a custom dashboard
Where a dashboard can be exported, you can save it as a PDF or PowerPoint file. To export a dashboard:
- On the control bar, click Export report as PDF or PowerPoint. The Export Custom Report window opens.
- Under Select a file format, choose PDF or PowerPoint.
- Click Export. The file is created, which can take a few minutes.
- Click Download PDF or Download PowerPoint.
Exports are limited to 30 pages and 250 MB. Where a page can't be exported with the filters applied, clear them and try again.
If a dashboard doesn't load
Where a custom dashboard can't be loaded, an error is shown instead. Click Reload Page to try again. If it still doesn't load, contact your administrator.
For uploading custom dashboards, their settings, and making them available, see Configuring Custom Dashboards. For the built-in dashboards, see Standard Dashboards.
