In the Simple Model, a program chooses which resource types its projects can request, from those set up by an administrator, and can give each one its own approval workflow.
This article covers the Simple Model, and needs program administrator access. Resource types themselves are created, and assigned to users, under Administration — see Configuring Resources (Advanced Model). For how resource management fits together, see Managing Resources.
Enabling resources for a program
To enable resources:
- Navigate to your program, then to Configuration > Program Items > Resources.
- Click Add Resource Type.
- Select the resource types the program's projects can request. At least one must be added before resources can be enabled.
- Turn on the toggle to enable resources.
Once enabled, resource management is available on the program and its projects. The list shows each resource type with its Count of demands, and when it was Last Updated.
Resource types come from Administration, so they can't be edited or deleted here.
Setting an approval workflow for a resource type
Each resource type in the program can have its own approval workflow, so its demand is approved by the right people. To set one up:
- Create the workflow under the program's Configuration > Workflows, with the type Resource Demand Approval — see Approval Workflows.
- On the program's Resources page, open the resource type.
- Select the workflow as its Approval Workflow.
The workflow only applies to demand created in this program. Where a resource type has no workflow, its demand isn't sent for approval. Changing a resource type's workflow, where demand already exists, resets the approval status of that demand.
For what starts an approval, see Approval Workflow Types. For approving demand, see Resource Demand.
