There are two ways that your Amplify instance can be structured. The simple model, also known as Program Management, requires the least amount of configuration and maintenance in exchange for reduced customization and flexibility.
Program structure
A program provides a structured way to organize and manage strategic work. Instead of treating every project as a separate effort, projects are grouped into larger units that reflect the overall strategy.
- Program — represents a broad strategic goal or initiative, bringing together related work under one umbrella so that all projects contribute to the same outcome.
- Reporting group — a mid-level structure within a program that organizes projects by theme, business area, or strategic priority.
- Project — defines the specific tasks and actions where day-to-day execution happens and measurable results are delivered.
Advantages of the simple model
- Every project is linked to a program, so project-level activity rolls up to the program it belongs to.
- Progress, costs, and benefits can be viewed at the project level, or aggregated across reporting groups and programs.
- The same structure applies whether an instance has a handful of projects or hundreds across multiple teams.
- Projects are shown in the context of the program they belong to, rather than as isolated results.
Where a strategy involves varied goals and reporting levels, the flat structure of the simple model does not fit as well. The advanced model is available for these cases.
