Site settings control how Amplify behaves across the whole instance — its name, language, time zone, which files can be uploaded, how long sessions last, and which features are switched on for everyone. They're set under Administration > Site Settings.
This article covers both the Advanced and Simple Models, and needs administrator access, or an admin role with access to Site Settings — see Admin Roles.
Site settings apply to every user in the instance. Only a trained administrator should make changes here.
Updating site settings
To update site settings:
- Navigate to Administration > Site Settings.
- Change the settings you need to.
- Click Save.
Settings marked *requires restart restart Amplify when they're saved. Amplify restarts straight away, and a message confirms the settings were updated.
Note A restart affects everyone using Amplify at the time. Change settings marked *requires restart outside working hours where you can.
Settings
The settings are listed in the order they appear on the page. Some are only shown where a feature is turned on for your organization.
Name, language, and time zone
- Enterprise Name — your organization's name. It's also the name of the top level of your hierarchy, which is renamed to match. Requires a restart.
- Locale — the language and regional formatting Amplify uses, such as English (US). Requires a restart. Changing the locale after data has been entered leaves existing data in the previous locale.
- Available Locale 1, Available Locale 2, and Default Locale — shown instead of Locale, where more than one language is turned on for your organization. They set the two languages users can choose between, and the language for new users and the sign-in page. Where a language is removed, users who had chosen it are moved to the Default Locale. Each requires a restart.
- Time Zone — Amplify's time zone. The default is UTC. Requires a restart. Scheduled activity, such as automatic baselines, runs in this time zone.
Documents and help
- Allowed Document Formats — the file types users can upload, as a space-separated list of lowercase extensions, such as jpg png pdf docx xlsx. Files of any other type are rejected.
- Amplify Help URL — where Amplify's help links open. The default is the Amplify Help Center.
Sessions
- Session Timeout (in minutes) — how long a user can be inactive before they're signed out. It must be longer than the warning threshold. Requires a restart.
- Session Timeout Warning Threshold — how many seconds before a timeout a warning is shown. The warning is triggered by inactivity.
Data entry
- Resource Decimal Point Accuracy — the number of decimal places resource values are shown to, from 0 to 4.
- Schedule Delete Confirmation Threshold — protects against deleting tasks by mistake. Where a user saves a schedule with at least this many tasks deleted since the last save, a Confirmation Threshold Exceeded message asks how to proceed: Save & Delete saves every change, including the deletions; Save Only saves every change except the deletions; or cancel to make no change. Set it to 0 to never show the message.
- Lock Past Actuals — how many past periods users can still change actuals in, for benefits, measures, and costs. Users can change the current period and that many periods before it; actuals in older periods are locked. Select All for no locking. Administrators can change actuals in any period.
Features
- Surveys — Enable Surveys occasionally asks users to rate their experience of Amplify, through the Delighted survey service, which loads a third-party script. Users are only asked once their account is at least two weeks old. Shown where surveys are turned on for your organization. Requires a restart.
- Amplify Index — Enable Amplify Index shows Amplify Index scores across the instance. See Amplify Index.
- Zendesk widget — Enable Zendesk widget shows the Help Center widget on Amplify's pages. The widget loads a third-party script.
- Custom Dashboard Manual Refresh — Enable Custom Dashboard Manual Refresh lets users refresh the data on custom dashboards themselves. Shown where it's enabled for your organization — speak to your Customer Success Manager. See Configuring Custom Dashboards.
- Initiative Submissions Parent ID — the IDs of the initiatives that initiative submissions are created under, separated by commas. Shown where Initiative Submissions is turned on. See Configuring Initiative Submissions.
Some features, such as timesheets, the mobile app, Amplify AI, and Initiative Submissions, aren't turned on here. They're turned on for your organization by your Customer Success Manager.
