Ratings show how serious a RAID item is, such as Low, Medium, or High, each with its own color. They're set up once for the whole instance, under Administration > Ratings, and used by every RAID item classification that has rating turned on.
This article covers both the Advanced and Simple Models, and needs administrator access, or an admin role with access to Ratings — see Admin Roles.
How ratings work
Each RAID item classification uses one of two rating systems, chosen with its Rating setting:
- Simple — users choose the item's rating directly, from the ratings set up under 1 - Ratings.
- Calculated — users choose the item's likelihood and impact, from the options under 2 - Likelihood and Impact, and its rating is worked out from the matrix under 3 - Calculated Matrix.
For choosing a classification's rating system, see Configuring RAID Item Classifications (Advanced Model) or Configuring RAID Item Classifications (Simple Model).
Ratings
The ratings are listed under 1 - Ratings. Both rating systems use them. Each rating has:
- Ranking — its position in the list. Ratings are offered to users, and shown in the matrix, in this order. Drag a rating by its handle to change it.
- Name — the rating shown on RAID items, such as High.
- Colour — the color shown with it.
- Display on Dashboard — marks the rating for custom dashboards and downloadable reports, which can use it to choose which RAID items to show. Amplify's standard dashboards don't use it. It's off for new ratings.
To add a rating:
- Navigate to Administration > Ratings.
- Under 1 - Ratings, click Add Rating. The rating is added at the end of the list.
- Enter its name.
- Choose its color.
- Drag it to its place in the list.
- Click Save.
To remove a rating, click the x next to it, and click Save. A rating can't be removed while any RAID item has it, or while it's used in the matrix. Amplify says how many RAID items have it — to find them, filter the Rating column of the RAID Items register by that rating.
Likelihood and impact
Under 2 - Likelihood and Impact, set the options users choose from for calculated ratings. Each likelihood and impact has a name, and a Ranking — its position in the list, which sets its place in the matrix.
To add a likelihood or impact:
- Under 2 - Likelihood and Impact, click Add Likelihood or Add Impact. It's added at the end of the list.
- Enter its name.
- Drag it by its handle to its place in the list.
- Click Save.
To remove one, click the x next to it, and click Save. A likelihood or impact can't be removed while it's assigned to any RAID item. To find those items, filter the Risk Likelihood or Risk Impact column of the RAID Items register.
Calculated matrix
Under 3 - Calculated Matrix, each row is a likelihood and each column an impact, in the order of their rankings. Each cell sets the rating a RAID item gets when it's given that likelihood and impact. Until there's at least one likelihood and one impact, the matrix shows Add a Likelihood and Impact.
To set up the matrix:
- Under 3 - Calculated Matrix, choose a rating in each cell.
- Click Save.
Ratings apply across the whole instance, and calculated ratings are worked out from the matrix each time they're shown. Changing a cell of the matrix changes the rating of every RAID item with that likelihood and impact, straight away.
