The Process Dashboard, under Dashboards on an initiative's side menu, where it's named after the stage gate process, shows where the initiative's value sits in that process. Each stage of the process is a column, showing the benefits or costs of the initiatives beneath this one that are at that stage — so you can see how much value is waiting at each gate, and which initiatives are held up.
This article covers both the Advanced and Simple Models. The dashboard is available where it's enabled for the initiative's classification, or the project type — see Standard Dashboards. It needs a stage gate process; without one, it shows a message instead — see Configuring the Stage Gate Process. Depending on your instance, benefits may be called impacts, including in the dashboard's labels.
How the tabs work
Tabs along the top choose what the stages show. Values in different units can't be added together, so each tab covers one kind:
- Financial Benefits — every benefit measured in a financial unit, such as a currency, added together.
- Costs — the initiatives' costs.
- One tab for each non-financial benefit classification — named after the classification, such as Customer Satisfaction, and shown in its own unit, such as a number or a percentage.
Each tab has its own series to choose from — see Choosing the series.
The stages
Each stage of the process is a column, headed with the stage's name. The column has three parts: a chart, the stage's total, and the initiatives at that stage. Only active initiatives beneath this one that use the stage gate process, and that you can see, are included.
The chart
The chart shows the chosen series over time, for the initiatives at that stage. Every stage's chart uses the same scale, so their heights can be compared.
The number beside the stage's name is how many benefits or costs are included. Click it to open the register, filtered to them.
The stage total
Below the chart is the stage's Stage Total — the total of the chosen series for every initiative at that stage. Where a non-financial benefit classification averages its values, rather than adding them up, this is the Stage Average instead.
The initiatives
Below the stage total, the initiatives at that stage are listed. Click an initiative to open it. Hover over one to see its own value in place of the stage total, and when it entered the stage, or the gate.
The bar at the left of each initiative's name shows its status:
- Where the initiative's classification uses status indicators, its Overall status — red, amber, or green. See Managing Initiatives.
- Otherwise, its Amplify Index score, using the ranges set under Administration > Status Thresholds.
- Grey, where neither is available.
An icon after the name shows where the initiative is at the stage's gate:
- A diamond with a clock — pending approval.
- A diamond with a tick — its final gate is approved.
- A diamond with a cross — rejected.
Initiatives with no icon are working through the stage, and haven't been sent for approval. The list is in that order: pending approval first, then those working through the stage, then approved, then rejected. Within each, the initiative that's been there longest is first.
For how initiatives move between stages, see Stage Gate Process.
Choosing the series
Choose the series to show from Display, beside the tabs: the plan, forecast, actuals, or baseline for benefits; the budget, forecast, actuals, or baseline for costs. The charts and stage totals update to show it.
For the other standard dashboards, and choosing which are available, see Standard Dashboards.
