When multiple outcomes contribute to a Benefit, Amplify can be set up to create an advanced way of benefit calculation. Each outcome can be measured repeatedly using a unit of measurement. An advanced measure is a value or measurement captured for one of the outcomes of a benefit.
The benefit classification template allows the administrator to configure a classification as one which allows the creation of advanced measures.
Within an advanced measure, you can define its Future Value or Mode of Operation [FMO] and Current Mode of Operation[CMO]. The CMO is set as 0 by default. It is possible to generate CMO values if required. Planned Benefit is calculated as the difference between FMO and CMO.
Note: FMO is replaced by Plan if the measure is simple.
To configure the benefit calculation using multiple measures:
- Navigate to Administration > Classifications.
- Locate your benefit classification type and click Edit.
- Scroll down to Impact Formula section.
- Click on the toggle button at the end of the row.
This will reveal a set of fields. These fields allow you to define advanced measures, measurement unit, and the frequency at which each outcome has to be measured.
By default, the impact calculation formula will utilise a single measure(M1).To create another measure:
- Click on the New Measure button.
This will add a new measure (M2). - Use the Measure Name field to change its name.
- Choose the unit in which it will be measured from the Measurement Unit drop-down list.
- Select the frequency at which it will be measured by clicking on the appropriate button under Reporting Cadence.
- Once you have created more than one measure, you can type in the formula directly into the Formula Input field.
- Use the Remove Measure button when required.
Next step is to enable plan, actual and forecast data series for the benefit.
- Use the Remove Measure button when required.
- Use the Plan section to configure plan values.
- Use the Plan Generator field to choose how the Plan data series should be generated. This will impact how Amplify's quick-toggle feature, present in the measure input field(
)will regenerate future values to based on the last input entered in the data entry field on the left or top.
- The value that you set in the Plan Value field will display as the default plan value for the measure.
- If you want users to capture the Current Mode of Operation (CMO) and the Future Mode of Operation (FMO) for the measure, click on the toggle button against Advanced Measure to turn it on.
You can use a default method to generate CMO and specify an initial CMO value. The Current Mode of Operation will be 0 unless Advanced Measure toggle is selected. With Advanced Measure toggled on, you can also select a default method to generate FMO and specify an initial CMO value.
- Use the Plan Generator field to choose how the Plan data series should be generated. This will impact how Amplify's quick-toggle feature, present in the measure input field(
- Use the Actuals section to configure actual values.
- Enable the Record Actuals toggle if you want end-users to capture at least one actual value is recorded for each period.Record Actuals widget displays on the owner's Personal dashboard prompting them to record actuals.
- The value that you enter in the Upcoming Actuals Reminder field will display on the Measurement tab for the end-user.
- Use the Forecast section to configure actual values.
- Once you have configured the measures, the plan, actual and forecast data series, you can configure whether you want to allow end-users to modify the benefit calculation formula. Choose the required setting in the drop-down field under Impact Plan Tab section.
Selecting Measures Dashboard will display a separate dashboard page for the measures. This is the recommended option.
Selecting the Formula Builder will allow users to define advanced measures and benefit calculation formula (if not already defined). If advanced measures are already defined, then they will be able to modify the existing measures and benefit formula when this setting is enabled. - Adjust other required settings and click on the Save button.
- Click on the New Measure button.
The measures are listed under the chart in the Plan tab of the Benefit.
