The Project Dashboard, under Dashboards > Project on an initiative's side menu, is a snapshot of the initiative's own numbers: its benefits, costs, and RAID items, the benefits that depend on its milestones, and what's waiting on approval.
This article covers both the Advanced and Simple Models. The dashboard is available where it's enabled for the initiative's classification, or the project type — see Standard Dashboards. Which cards and widgets appear depends on the features enabled for the initiative, and your permissions. Depending on your instance, benefits may be called impacts, including in the card names.
The cards
The top of the dashboard is a grid of cards:
- Financial Benefits — the initiative's benefits in a financial unit, such as a currency.
- [Classification] Costs — the initiative's costs.
- RAID Items — the initiative's RAID items.
- One card for each non-financial benefit classification, such as Customer Satisfaction, in its own unit.
Benefit and cost cards
Each benefit and cost card shows the initiative's totals — the plan or budget, the forecast, and the actuals — above a chart of the same values. A benefits card also shows the Variance, the forecast less the plan: green where the forecast is ahead of the plan, and red where it's behind.
The number at the card's top right is how many benefits or costs it includes. Click it, or the link icon beside it, to open the register, filtered to them.
Where the classification reports annually, the cards show values for the reporting year, rather than the initiative's whole life — see Value Dashboard.
RAID items card
The RAID items card shows how many of the initiative's RAID items are open, as Open RAID Items, their total financial impact, as Exposure, and a chart of them by rating. Click the link icon to open the RAID Register.
Empty and unavailable cards
Where the initiative has no benefits, costs, or RAID items yet, the card offers to create one — such as Create a Benefit. The new item is created in a side sheet, without leaving the dashboard.
Where you don't have permission to see them, or they aren't enabled for the initiative, the card shows a message instead, such as Benefits Unavailable.
Benefit delivery schedule
Below the cards, the [Classification] - Benefit Delivery Schedule shows the initiative's milestones, and the benefits linked to them, on a timeline. Where a milestone moves, the benefits that depend on it move too — see Schedules.
Its list shows each item's Name, Start Date, End Date, and Duration. Where the initiative has a baseline, Start Date Variance shows how many days each item has moved from its baselined start date, and the baselined dates can be shown on the timeline — see Baselines.
The schedule is read-only here. Click the link icon to open the full schedule, where it can be changed. Only milestones with Display on Dashboard turned on are shown, and only to users who can see both the schedule and benefits.
Pending approvals
Pending Approvals lists the approval requests open on the initiative and the items within it, oldest first — such as a stage gate, an actual value, a benefit's plan or forecast, a milestone, a status report, or a RAID item. Click the widget's header to collapse or expand it.
Each request shows:
- What it's for — the type of approval, the item's name, and how many days it's been pending. Click the item's name to open it.
- The approvers — each approver's picture, ringed by their response. Hover over a picture to see how long it's been pending, or when it was approved, and any comment. Click a picture to send the approver a message.
- The request's details — open them to see each step's approvers. Where the workflow allows approvers to be modified, and you can update the item, add or remove approvers, and change the request's comment.
- A delete button — removes the request. Shown where the workflow allows approvers to be modified, except for dependency approvals.
See Approval Workflows.
Task Board overview
Kanban Task Overview, at the bottom of the dashboard, is a bar chart of the initiative's Task Board, with a bar for each column, in the column's color. Each bar's length is the Number of Tasks in that column, so you can see how much work is still to start, in progress, or done. Click the chart to open the Task Board.
Where the board has no tasks yet, the widget shows No Task Board Tasks instead, with a Task Board button to open it and add some.
It's shown where the Task Board is enabled for the level above the initiative. See Board View.
For the other standard dashboards, and choosing which are available, see Standard Dashboards.
