A shared team classification sets up a kind of shared team — such as a finance team, a PMO, or a benefits team — and decides what every shared team of that kind can see on its page: which dashboards, registers, ledgers, and tools it has. This article explains why you'd use different classifications for different teams, and how to create and set one up. For creating shared teams and adding their members, see Managing Shared Teams.
This article covers both the Advanced and Simple Models, and needs administrator access. Shared team classifications are created under Administration, not within a program.
What a shared team's page shows
Each shared team has a page of its own, which its members open from their Personal Dashboard, under Shared Teams. The page brings together the work the team is involved in:
- When the team is added to an initiative, that initiative — and every initiative below it — is included on the team's page.
- The page's dashboards, registers, and ledgers total and list the data of every initiative included, like a level of the hierarchy of their own.
- When the team is removed from an initiative, that initiative is no longer included. When the team is archived, none are.
So a finance team added to six projects across three programs sees those six projects' costs and benefits together, on its own page, without needing a portfolio set up just for them.
Why use different classifications
Different teams need different views of the work they're involved in. A team's classification sets what its page offers, so create one classification for each kind of team. For example, you might set up:
- A finance team — the Value, NPV, and ROI dashboards, opening on Value, with the costs register and the cost and benefit ledgers.
- A PMO or delivery team — the Performance dashboard, with the initiatives and RAID registers, and tasks turned on for the schedule.
- A benefits team — the benefits and goals registers, and the benefit and measure ledgers.
Every shared team of a classification shows the same things. To change what a kind of team sees, change its classification, and every team of that kind is updated.

Settings
Dashboards
- Available Dashboards — the dashboards the team's page has, such as Performance, Value, Process, Reporting, NPV, and ROI, and any custom dashboards. See Standard Dashboards.
- Landing Page — the page that opens first when a member opens the team.
Registers and ledgers
- Registers — Enable Initiatives Register, Enable Benefits Register, Enable Costs Register, Enable RAID Register, and Enable Goals Register list those items across the initiatives included.
- Ledgers — Enable Benefit Ledger, Enable Measure Ledger, and Enable Cost Ledger show their values period by period. See Ledger View.
Tools
- Enable Tasks — gives the team's page the Schedule and the Tasks table.
- Enable Baselines — lets baselines be viewed and compared. See Baselines.
- Enable Scenarios — lets the team plan scenarios. See Scenario Planning.
- Enable Reports — lets members download reports. See Configuring Downloadable Reports.
- Enable Documents — lets documents be attached to the team's page. See Documents.
Enable Business Case, Enable Map, and Enable Pathway are also offered, but these features are being phased out.
