Registers and items are how information is organized and managed in Amplify. A register is a container that holds related data; items are the individual records within it. Each item represents a specific piece of information, such as a cost, benefit, task, risk, or issue.
Registers keep related data in one place. Instead of searching across multiple pages, go to a single register to find everything in a particular category — for example, the Benefits Register shows every recorded benefit, and the RAID Register gives a consolidated view of risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies.
Breaking information into items within registers lets you track details, assign ownership, monitor progress, and report consistently, at both the individual and portfolio level.
Item details also roll up to higher levels, so an item appears in the register of each level above it. This gives oversight across all your initiatives without needing to drill into each one individually.
Amplify offers multiple types of register, with additional options for configuring them.
Item types
- Initiatives — any level of the hierarchy, from a top-level program or portfolio down to an individual project.
- Projects — the functional level where these items are created and managed.
- Benefits — positive or negative impacts to the business resulting from an initiative.
- Measures — the value series recorded against a benefit.
- Costs — budget, actuals, and forecast implementation costs for an initiative.
- RAID and Action Items — the risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies for an initiative, along with any action items raised against them.
- Goals — achievement targets that an initiative contributes toward.
- Tasks — the day-to-day actions and milestones that make up an initiative's schedule.
- Resources — the people, skills, or assets needed to deliver an initiative.
