A register lists every item of one type — such as initiatives, projects, benefits, costs, or RAID items — at a level of the hierarchy, including those beneath it. Open a register from Registers on the side menu.
This article covers both the Advanced and Simple Models. Which registers are available depends on what's enabled for the initiative or program.
Ways to view a register
Each register can be shown in different views. Switch between them with the buttons at the left of the register's toolbar. Which views a register offers depends on its type.
| Card View — items as cards, with key details at a glance. Also where archived items are restored or deleted. | |
| Table View — items as rows, with columns that can be added, filtered, sorted, and grouped. | |
| Visualization View — initiatives or projects as a block graph, grouped and colored by any field. | |
| Ledger View — items alongside their financial values over time, with totals. |
Tasks can also be shown on a board — see Board View.
A fullscreen button, in the top right of the register, expands it to fill the browser window.
Saving views
A view stores how a register is set up, so you can come back to it without setting it up again. What a view stores depends on the view type — see each view type's article.
- Card, table, and visualization — share the same saved views. A view saved in one is available in the others, and also records which of the card and table formats the register opens in.
- Ledger and board — have their own saved views.
Selecting a view
The view selector, in the register's toolbar, lists your own saved views and the shared views you have access to. Select one to load it.
Saved views can also be opened from the side menu. Hover over the register's menu item to see its views.
Saving and managing views
The menu on the toolbar's Save button has:
- Create as new View — saves the register's current setup as a new view. Enter a Name, and choose its Visibility: Private for just you, or Shared for everyone with access to the register.
- Revert changes to View — undoes any changes to the current view since it was last saved.
- Edit View — rename the view, change its visibility, or set it as your default, so the register opens on it.
- Delete View — permanently deletes the view.
To save changes to the current view, click the Save button itself.
Who can manage shared views
Everyone can save private views. Shared views need administrator access:
- Changing a shared view — needs Full Admin, or an Admin Role with Update or Full access to User Views.
- Sharing a view, making a shared view private, or deleting a shared view — needs Full Admin, or Full access to User Views.
Admin roles can manage shared views of registers, ledgers, timesheet entries, and the Task Board. Shared views of the schedule, the My Tasks table, and dashboards can only be changed by a Full Admin; to anyone else, they're read-only.
Every register keeps at least one shared view, so the last shared view can't be deleted or made private.
Administrators manage every view in the instance under Administration > User Views — see User Views.
