The table view shows the items in a register as rows, with a column for each field. Columns can be added, removed, rearranged, filtered, sorted, and grouped, which makes it the view for detailed analysis and for updating many items in one place.
This article covers both the Advanced and Simple Models. For the other ways to view a register, see Register Views.
Arranging the table
Column headers — drag a header to rearrange columns, or drag its edge to resize one. |
|
Reordered columns — the table after columns have been rearranged. |
|
Columns — add and remove columns from the table. It can also be used to create Row Groups and aggregated columns based on specific Values. |
|
Filters — show or hide items based on the values in any column, using specified selections, values, or terms. |
|
Row Groups — reorders the table into a tree structure, grouping items by value. |

Available columns
Which fields can be added as columns, and used to filter, sort, and group by, depends on the register:
- Initiative and Project Registers — the initiative's or project's own fields.
- Other registers, such as the Benefit, Cost, and RAID Registers — the item's own fields, plus the fields of the initiative it belongs to. On the Benefit Register, for example, you can add both benefit fields and initiative fields.
Registers also have columns for the levels of the hierarchy, so items can be grouped, filtered, and sorted by where they sit:
- Reporting Groups — in the Simple Model, the program's reporting groups.
- Reporting Levels — in the Advanced Model, the levels of the initiative hierarchy.
Where a Select Box custom field has reference data, each piece of reference data is also available as a column, named after the Select Box and the reference data — for example, Site - Region. These columns can be filtered, sorted, and grouped by, but can't be edited in the table. For reference data, see Custom Fields (Advanced Model).
Finding archived items
The table view can show archived items alongside live ones, using the Active column. Add it from Columns if it isn't already shown.
- true — the item is live.
- false — the item is archived.
Filter the Active column to false to see only archived items, or to true to hide them. The filter also lists (Blanks), which can be ignored. Save the filter as a view to come back to it.
Archiving an initiative archives everything within it — the initiatives beneath it, and their benefits, costs, RAID items, and other items. Archiving a single item, such as a benefit or cost, archives only that item; the initiative it belongs to stays active.
On registers that include initiative fields, the initiative's own Active field can also be added as a column. Use it to tell apart items that were archived on their own from items archived along with their initiative.
To restore or delete an archived item, open it, or use the archive in the Card View.
Saved views
A saved view of the table stores:
- which columns are shown, and their order, width, and pinning;
- how the table is sorted;
- row groups, aggregated values, and pivoting;
- filters;
- the Tree View setting.
The same saved views are used by the card and visualization views of the register. For saving, sharing, and managing views, see Register Views.
