In the Simple Model, goals are set up on each program. Goals represent achievement targets for the program: its projects contribute benefits towards them, and can be given a target of their own. Goal types are created on the program, under its Configuration > Program Items > Goals.
This article covers the Simple Model, and needs program administrator access. For the Advanced Model, see Configuring Goal Classifications (Advanced Model). For creating and tracking goals, see Managing Goals.
Enabling goals for a program
To enable goals:
- Navigate to your program, then to Configuration > Program Items > Goals.
The Goals option under Program Items. - Turn on Enable Goals.
The Enable Goals toggle.
The Goals Overview lists the program's goal types, with how many goals use each, and when each was last updated.
Creating a goal type
To create a goal type:
- On the program's Goals page, click New Goal Type.
- Configure the settings on each tab, described below. Some tabs can't be configured until the goal type has been created.
- Click Create.
To edit a goal type, click the edit icon next to it in the Goals Overview.
General Configuration tab
- Name and Color — identify the goal type across the program.
Properties tab
The Properties tab sets which fields goals of this type have, such as a stretch target or a goal category. They're shown under Additional Fields when a goal is created or edited, and at the top of the goal's dashboard.
- Additional Fields — custom fields. Turn on Active to use a field on these goals, and drag a field to change its order. Click Add Shared Field to use a field created in Administration, or New Custom Field to create one for the program.
- Include on Create — shows the field on the form when a goal is created. Fields not included on create can still be filled in afterwards.
For shared and program fields, see Custom Fields (Simple Model).
Advanced tab
- Enable Documents — lets users attach documents to goals of this type. Document upload isn't part of the recommended configuration, so check with your administrators before turning it on. See Documents.
- Delete… — see Deleting a goal type.
Deleting a goal type
Deleting a goal type permanently deletes every goal of that type in the program, including its targets. It can't be undone.
To delete a goal type:
- In the Goals Overview, click the edit icon next to the goal type.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click Delete….
- Amplify lists every goal of this type that will be deleted, with a link to each. Check the list before you go on.
- Confirm.
The goal type is removed straight away, so no new goals of this type can be created. Its goals are then archived and deleted in the background, which can take a few minutes where there are many.
For creating goals of this type, see Managing Goals.
