The Baseline widget on the Properties dashboard allows you to set baselines.
This article covers the following topics:
- How to create a baseline
- How to update baselines for programs/projects, impacts and schedules
- How to set a specific baseline as the current baseline
- How to archive a baseline
Creating a Baseline
You can create a baseline from the Properties Dashboard by selecting + New on the Baseline widget.
The permission to create baselines will be available to you only if your role is configured to have that privilege.
To create a baseline for a program/initiative:
- Make sure that baseline is configured for your program/initiative. Please contact your Amplify system administrator if it isn't.
- Access the Properties dashboard.
- Scroll down to locate the Baseline widget.
- Click on the New button on the top-right hand corner.
In the form that displays, enter a Name and Description and select whether you would like to make this baseline active.
Make this the Active Baseline will be ticked by default but can be changed for this baseline if there is already an active baseline available. The baseline will be recorded even if you do not tick this checkbox but will not be shown on the initiative dashboard and benefit dashboard or in the reports until you make this baseline active. - Click on the Save button.
The baseline that you created will now be listed in the Baselines widget.
Updating the Baseline
Initiatives can have their baseline updated individually, or emerging initiatives may be added to an existing baseline. Locate the drop-down in the Hamburger Menu (far right) and select Add/Update Baseline from the Initiative you wish to add.
As new initiatives emerge in your business case, you may wish to update or recalculate the baseline considering your new benefit. This can now be done through a benefit dashboard in the dropdown menu.
Select Update Baseline. Amplify will recalculate in the background.
If you want to update the baseline for the project schedule, you can do so from the Schedule sub-menu.
Setting a Baseline as the Currently Active Baseline
You can take multiple baselines, but there will only be one active baseline. Only the active baseline will be used in the reports and shown on the initiative and Benefit Dashboard.
When you have set multiple baselines, you can select which baseline you wish to activate from the Initiative Properties Dashboard. To do this, select the baseline you want to set as active, and click on the Make this the Active Baseline checkbox. The selected baseline will now be shown on the initiative and benefit dashboards and in the reports.
The name and the description of a baseline can be changed if you select the baseline in the Properties Dashboard.
Archiving a Baseline
When it should no longer be possible to set a certain baseline as the active baseline, you can move this baseline to the archive. Only a baseline that is currently not active can be moved to the archive.
You can archive baselines using the archive button on the Baseline widget.
