Click this button to display the scenario comparison tool. Read more about it here. |
The column on the left displays the criteria widgets that you selected using the Add Criteria field.
You can add any number of criteria. Every widget has a delete icon you can use if you want to get rid of that criteria. Few criteria have the settings icon(indicated using the mouse pointer in the above screenshot ), clicking on which you can adjust Weight polarity of these widgets, in order to give them weighting priorities in relation to the others, when overviewing the entire portfolio and scenario.
Below the criteria widgets, is the selection table that lists all qualified initiatives meeting the criteria. You can use the Columns tab on the far-right to hide or display columns. Displaying the Recommended and Affordable columns are useful as these columns indicate whether an initiative is recommended and/or affordable.
Building a Scenario
To build a scenario:
- Select the criteria that align with your organisation's financial and strategic goals. There are many options in way of available criteria, so you are encouraged to explore these options, some of which include:
- ROI
- Total Budget
- Total Budget Profile
- Total Return Profile
- Risk vs Alignment
- Risk Heatmap
- Professional Fees
- Return by Unit
- Goals (Note: ensure that a target is set for the goal)
- Custom fields
Amplify allows you to use your business goals as assessment criteria when selecting and balancing your portfolio. You can set an overall budget and weigh your criteria to balance your requirements and Amplify will automatically select the initiatives which contribute the most according to your priorities.
- Use the Range edit section to choose an applicable FY range, and from here you can also toggle in and out of a hierarchical Tree View. Amplify makes use of its Table View on this dashboard, to give you a highly customisable description of key metrics. Add/subtract columns according to what your desired outcome is.
- After specifying relevant criteria, you can toggle(on) the Automatically Selection, the best combination of projects are selected for you. This is indicated by the values in the Affordable and Recommended columns.
These are set based on the selection criteria/constraints that you specify in the left-hand side panel. The constraints alone determine whether the Affordable flag is set to Yes or No. For example, if you have only a Budget as the selection criteria, the Affordability is determined based on the budget constraint. If there is no value in the Total Budget column, there will be no budget constraint. Hence Affordability is set to Yes for all initiatives. If you add value in that field, i.e if a certain maximum affordable cost is set, Amplify will select only those initiatives that can be run within that maximum cost.
The Recommended flag is set to Yes depending upon how the initiative meets all specified selection criteria as well as constraints. If there is a zero value in the total budget constraint and there are no other criteria, Amplify would set all initiatives as recommended. Note: With Automatic Selection turned off, this becomes a manual process and selection is entirely up to the user. - Click on the Save button when you have completed making changes.
When you have created multiple scenarios, you can click on the Compare Scenarios Analysis button in the top right-hand corner of the dashboard.
