A Change Request allows you to attach an approval workflow to an initiative item, creating an approved course of action for an initiative. This is useful when the initiative scope needs to be changed but requires the approval of one or more stakeholders.
Creating a Change Request is comprised of two steps:
- Creating a workflow
- Creating an item classification
Creating a Change Request Workflow
For Classic Model:
- As an administrator navigate to Administration
- Click on Workflows in the navigation menu
- Click on New Workflow
- Select Item Approval from the Workflow Type dropdown option
- Fill out the remaining fields then click Save
For Program Model:
- Navigate to the program for the new field
- From the navigation menu, go to Configuration then Workflows
- Click New Workflow
- Select Item Approval from the Workflow Type dropdown option
- Fill out the remaining fields then click Save
The workflow will now be available to Item Classifications.
Creating a Change Request Item Classification
For Classic Model:
- As an administrator navigate to Administration
- Click on Classifications in the navigation menu
- Click on + Classification
- Select Item from the Object Type dropdown option
- Select Other from the Item Type dropdown option
- Select a workflow from the Workflow dropdown option
- Fill out the remaining fields then click Create
For Program Model:
- Navigate to the program for the new field
- From the navigation menu, go to Configuration then Program Items then Items
- Click New Item Type
- Select Other from the Item Type dropdown option
- Select a workflow from the Workflow dropdown option
- Fill out the remaining fields then click Create
'Other' Item Type
The Other [Change Request] item type is different to Risks and Dependencies:
- A workflow can be attached to this classification
- The standard fields available are fewer
