Your Amplify instance can begin from scratch or pre-populated with your existing data, depending on what your needs are. If you are an administrator, you can configure and manage your instance settings as needed.
The Amplify interface
The general user interface for Amplify remains consistent across the product and can be divided into three main sections.
Note — not everything described below may be visible to you. Depending on the permissions granted to you, or which items and features are available, some of these elements are not displayed.
Content area
This is where the bulk of your time is spent. The content area represents the page you are on and may offer many different types of interactions.
While the content changes depending on the page, the content area typically contains a heading at the top with additional information.
- Item name — this heading gives you the name of the item you are viewing, for example, which initiative or benefit you are viewing.
- Classification tag — the tag next to the item name gives more information on what type of item you are viewing, for example, "Portfolio" or "Risk".
- Page name — the sub-heading gives you the type of information you are viewing for the current item, for example, a dashboard or a register.
- Favourite — the star icon next to the page name lets you favourite a page, bookmarking it and adding it to your favourites list for quick navigation.
- Report — the document icon lets you download a report related to the current item.
- Menu — where additional options are available for the current item, an icon appears on the far right.
Toolbar
The bar at the top of your page contains elements that are consistent across your experience.
- Hierarchy — the first button in the toolbar opens a visual map of your instance that you can use to navigate.
- Breadcrumbs — a trail of links showing a linear path to where you are in the hierarchy, which can also be used to navigate.
- Ask Amplify — opens the Amplify AI Assistant chat window.
- Profile icon — shows how many notifications you have and opens a menu for different settings.
Main navigation
This side bar provides comprehensive navigation to all of the pages available to the current item you are viewing. This side bar also contains useful tools for navigation and item creation.

Next steps
Amplify instances are structured using one of two models.
- Where your strategy is expected to stay fairly static, or a simpler structure is enough, see Simple Model.
- Where your strategy involves varied goals and reporting levels, see Advanced Model.
