A program's features — such as chat, documents, baselines, and the Task Board — are switched on and set up from the program's Configuration menu. Each feature applies to every project in the program. This article says where each one is configured, and links to its own article for the detail.
This article covers the Simple Model, and needs program administrator access. For the program's structure — reporting groups and projects — see Configuring a Program. For the items projects can hold, such as benefits, costs, and RAID items, see Program Items.
Features
The program's Configuration > Features page switches on four features. Each toggle is saved as soon as it's changed.
- Baselines — turn on Enable Baselines to record baselines of the program and its projects, for comparing later changes against. See Configuring Baselines.
- Integrations — repeatable imports that update the program's data from an external source. Use with care. See Importing Data.
- Scenarios — model different ways of selecting and scheduling projects, and compare their results against the program's goals. See Scenario Planning.
- Chat — turn on Enable Chat to let project teams leave messages for each other, and mention people. See Chat and Mentions.
Documents
On Configuration > Advanced, turn on Enable Documents to let documents be attached to the program. Documents for projects, benefits, and goals are switched on separately, on each project, benefit, or goal type. See Documents.
Initiative Workbook
On Configuration > Initiative Workbook, turn on Enable Initiative Workbook, and build the layout the program's projects use. The program needs a stage gate process first. See Configuring the Initiative Workbook.
Task Board
On Configuration > Task Board, turn on Enable Task Board, and set up the columns the program's projects use. Tasks need to be enabled first, under Program Items > Tasks. See Configuring Tasks (Simple Model).
Stage gate process
Under Process > Stage Gate Process, set up the stage gate process the program's projects follow. The approval workflow for each stage is chosen on each project type's Process tab. See Configuring the Stage Gate Process.
Reports
Downloadable reports are set up in two places:
- Configuration > Reports — the reports available on the program itself, their default formats, and its quick print reports.
- Each project type's Reports tab — the reports available on projects of that type, and their quick print reports.
See Configuring Downloadable Reports. For downloading reports, see Downloadable Reports.
Status reports
Status reporting is set up in three places:
- Configuration > General — under Status Reports, Enable Request Status Reports lets the program request status reports from its projects, with an optional Approval Workflow.
- Each reporting group, under Configuration > Reporting Groups — Enable Request Status Reports lets the reporting group request status reports from its projects, with an optional Approval Workflow.
- Each project type's Status Report tab — Submit Reports lets projects of that type submit status reports, and the templates the reports use are built here.
See Configuring Status Reporting. For how status reporting works, see Status Reporting.
Workflows
Configuration > Workflows lists the approval workflows available in the program, with each one's type and whether it's enabled. Click New Workflow to create one for the program, and choose its type: stage gate, status report, item, resource demand, or actuals approval. A workflow that's in use can't be turned off. See Approval Workflows.
Notifications
Configuration > Notifications controls which email notifications are sent for the program. Notifications for approvals are set on each workflow instead. See Notifications.
