There are 3 types of measures in Amplify:
- Benefit-specific Measures
- Initiative-level Measures
- Enterprise-wide Measures
Benefit-specific Measures
The most common type of measure, benefit specific measures are automatically created when a Simple Benefit is created and inherit the same settings (eg. measurement unit, resolution, duration etc) as that benefit.
Initiative-level Measures
Initiative measures are standalone measures that are created under an initiative to be used in calculating Advanced Benefits for that initiative.
Enterprise-wide Measures
Enterprise measures are another type of standalone measure that are created at the Enterprise and can be used in calculating Advanced Benefits across the entire organization. These are common measures that are shared across many benefits (eg. conversion or discount rates).
Creating Initiative and Enterprise Measures
If you think multiple factors will contribute to your benefit, and you need to track and measure all of them, you can configure an Advanced Benefit to use a formula to calculate the value using Initiative and Enterprise measures. See this article for information around enabling the Benefit Formula.
Standalone measures can be created in the following ways if a measure classification has been mapped against the initiative classification:
Measures Register
Using the '+ New Measure' button
Project Brief
Using the '+' button on a measures widget
Quick Create
Using the quick create menu under the initiative
These measures can be configured under the measure classification to be either Advanced (using FMO and CMO series) or Simple (using Plan series).
Editing Initiative and Enterprise Measures
Access to create or edit measures are tied to benefit permissions. See this article for more information.
There are some constraints to editing measures where they are used in benefit calculations:
- Start date of the measure must be the same or earlier than its benefits
- End date of the measure must be the same or later than its benefits
- Resolution must be the same or more precise than the resolution of its benefits
You can learn more about how measures are used in Advanced Benefit calculations in this article.
Converting Initiative and Enterprise Measures
Admins can promote Initiative Measures to Enterprise Measures that can be used in advanced benefits across the entire organization. This is useful for commonly used conversion rates that may apply to benefits under many initiatives. The measure classification must be mapped against the Enterprise to enable this option.
Admins can also convert Enterprise Measures to Initiative Measures that can be used in advanced benefits under a specific initiative. This is useful when a measure has a more specific application that is localised to a single initiative. To enable this option, the measure classification must be mapped to both the Enterprise and Initiative classifications and only be linked to a benefit(s) under a single initiative.
